The most beloved and illustrious of Hawaii's heroes, Kamehameha unified the Hawaiian Island. His government maintained peace and traditional values even under intense Western influence. This statue is one of three cast in Paris from a model made by American artist T.R. Gould. This statue, located in front of Ali'Iolani Hale, was dedicated in 1893 as part of King Kalakaua's coronation ceremony.
