Panaewa Zoo is America's only zoo actually located within a rainforest. Visitors to the zoo will be delighted by the appearance of the nene, Hawaii's endangered state bird, and Namaste, the zoo's white bengal tiger, as well as 80 other species of unique animals. The zoo is located in the Waiolo River State Park, in the center of downtown.
