Each year, the Pacific Tsunami Museum focuses on a specific community or area greatly affected by a tsunami. This year's topic is Mamo Street, a two block area of downtown Hilo that was nearly wiped out by tsunamis that struck the area in 1946 and 1960. Visitors will learn of the heartwrenching tales of survivors detailed in exhibits focusing on the event and its aftermath. The museum is located along the Hilo Bay shoreline, within walking distance of Wailoa River State Park.
